Watch YouTube Without Ads – That’s How It Works

Are you fond of the ads on YouTube? Here are a few tricks you can use to skip ads easily. More than 1 billion hours of YouTube videos are watched every day. If you like to watch videos on YouTube often and with pleasure, you have probably been annoyed by the sudden advertisement during a video. But it doesn’t have to be, because, with a few tricks, you can easily bypass the ads.

  • Use the URL trick
  • Install an ad blocker
  • Use a VPN
  • Upgrade to YouTube Premium

Use the URL trick

One of the easiest ways to get rid of those pesky YouTube ads can be done with a single touch of a button. That’s right; you need to add one character to the URL. To do this, open YouTube in the browser of your choice and find a video that you want to watch. The URL should look something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZCp3iJ3P2k&ab_channel=ARTEde .

Now just add a period directly after ” .com ” so that your new URL is https://www.youtube.com./watch?v=cZCp3iJ3P2k&ab_channel=ARTEde. This should completely skip all advertisements.

Install an ad blocker

Another great way to block ads on YouTube is with an ad blocker. You can either add an ad blocker to your browser using a handy extension, or you can download an ad-free browser like Vivaldi straight to your smartphone or computer. There are many options to choose from, so it all comes down to personal preference.

Just remember that if you add some blocking software to your browser, you need to watch YouTube in the same browser. That shouldn’t be a problem for desktop users, but mobile users will have to say goodbye to the YouTube app in this case.

Use a VPN

One of the more comprehensive ways to turn off ads is with a VPN. In many ways, it works just like an ad blocker, although you can enjoy some additional freedoms. VPNs help keep your data and browsing history safe from prying eyes, so you don’t have to worry about targeted advertising either. If that’s not enough, you can also use a VPN to spoof your location and enjoy geo-restricted content.

Upgrade to YouTube Premium

Another way to bypass YouTube ads is effective but not free either: YouTube Premium. With YouTube Premium you get freedom from not only advertising but also other advantages:

  • You can download videos and watch them offline.
  • You can play videos in the app in the background. That means the music will continue to play even if you close the app.

Right now, you can try YouTube Premium for free for one month. After that, the service costs € 11.99 per month. At least part of your membership fee will go to the creators with YouTube Premium, unlike the other ad blocking options.
